A claim of having personal relationship with God can be a laughing matter, but only to those who have trouble believing in God's very existence. Anyone gone past that basic premise of faith can show an interest by actually studying the Creator. Just as we go to school and study different subjects, religion does not need to be just another subject..
The better one knows another person the deeper is his or her trust. If a total stranger on the street came to you and asked you for a 1000 Dollars promising to return that money the next day at the same time and the same spot would you trust him? But of you know someone well, for you have studied that person and learned much about his or her behavioral patters, you might consider trusting that person; wouldn't you?
Religion itself does not really help anyone in trusting our Heavenly Father because it tends to close the way to Him by drawing too much of our attention to itself rather then the living and invisible God. Therefore the question of rituals, blind faith or blind obedience to something mystical still remains to be answered. Either we follow our physical senses and tap into our sensational sphere, or we develop the spiritual sense where the free-of-any sensationalism truth resides.
The very breath we breathe is of the heavenly origin. Unlike the animals we also possess qualities, which the Bible calls TZELEM in Hebrew, which means a mirror reflection; and often it is translated as 'image'. We were created to reflect the invisible God in thought, word and actions. God is Spirit. He, having no physical body and no self-identity, wants to reside within those that do have self-identit. Because of our earthly garments, locale and earth's gravity, we can be identified. If God had this sort of identity we would be able to control Him and as a result we would be gods and He just another physical human being.
Theology or an organized systems of beliefs, often based on the passed on to us beliefs of our predecessors, sort of freezes God in time. Theology has created a picture frame for God; as if not allowing Him to be a living and moving person. In time that picture frame has become thicker and thicker until it has totally obscured the picture itself.
The world is divided into three categories of people, the Field, Tares and the Seed. Which are you? The field does not shine light nor do the tares; it is the Seed of God, which came down from above to the below that carries the heavnly light and transmits it to all.
Others experience miracles although they have no living relationship with their Maker, yet He cares for them by healing their bodies. Still others experience miracles completely independently from their faith, if any at all; for most miracles happen for the witness.
